The round table discussion was
organized by the Ukrainian Bar Association. Representatives of the
international institutions and judicial branch, researchers and lawyers
attended the event.
The participants discussed harmonization of the Ukrainian laws with the European Union legislation and WTO standards (parliamentary dimension), unification of the legislation on bankruptcy within the development and implementation of the Geneva Securities Convention, reforms of the applicable legislation of Ukraine on bankruptcy and unification of the laws on bankruptcy in the European Union (current state and prospects for Ukraine).
Greeting the participants of the round table discussion, Committee Chairman Borys Tarasiuk stated that the Committee had always welcomed cooperation with the researchers and experts in law. The Committee also supports the intentions of the experts and academic community "to assist the Committee in the harmonization of the Ukrainian legislation with the EU laws."
The participants of the round table discussion reminded of the obligations of Ukraine to harmonize the national legislation with the standards and legal provisions of the European Union. The amendments to the applicable legislation on the trans-border aspects of bankruptcy should be drafted.
The attendants also believe that the developed proposals shall be subject to the expert review to be harmonized with the effective doctrine in the private law, international and European standards, and the international practice of settlement of the trans-border bankruptcy issues.
It was suggested to hold the scientific expert review of the terminology used in the international documents.
